The sixth annual “RUNNING FOR LIFE 5K” (Formerly known as the Danbury Run against Drugs 5k) will be held on April 28\2012 at 10am.The USATF certified course starts and finishes at Rogers Park Danbury located on Lions way.5K RACE RUN/WALK AND Children’s Run to promote healthy choices in life-exercise, healthy diet, healthy leisure activities and spiritual life. Athletes of Christ is a non-profit organization officially created in Brazil on February 4, 1984. A local branch was formed by a small group of athletes in Danbury, Connecticut, in July of 2003. Since then, we have been active in the community bringing transformation by the way we play sports. Purpose: A Greater Danbury community-based ministry directed to introducing participants to Jesus Christ using the universal language of sports.Mission: To introduce athletes to Christ through the universal language of sports

Welcome!Sports are… A world wide passion! The practice of sports is physically and emotionally healthy, helps participants overcome social differences and opens avenues for new friendships. Long ago the Greeks rewarded victorious athletes with crowns of laurel leaves. Fifty years after Christ, the apostle Paul spoke about the value of sports. In his writings he mentioned various sports including running, wrestling and boxing. He analyzed the good example of the athlete who works hard “to gain a crown”, stressing the importance of determination, perseverance and enduring to the end. But Paul went much further than the competitive aspect of earthly sports. He called our attention to the real game –the game of life. In this game we are all athletes. In real life, it is not the fastest, nor the strongest, who receive the prize, it is those who give their lives to Jesus, the Champion of all champions.
